Default Silent install switches StarPort

Hi all!

I installed StarPort and created a 400MB Ram Disk and moved the IE temp folders to the the Ram Drive. Oh boy what a difference on dial-up. I have allot of Ram to support the moved of the IE temp folders...

Any way is there any silent install switches to make a Ram Drive when you install StarPort silent...

Thanks mac!

Hi,

You can set StarPort to automount the RAM drive on system start.

Or do you mean creating a RAM diak during StarPort installation process?

For now StarPort doesn't allow mounting devices inside its installation process.

Could you tell us why do you think the feature would be useful for users?
I guess it's not so hard to create a RAM disk just after the installation finished...

There are some that like to make a silent install XP CD that includes your favorite programs.. This way you could load up ram disc switch the temp file to it... on the install....

Here is the site they have allot of great examples... I'm just getting into it I read then play....

http://unattended.msfn.org/

This is prob confusing till you get into it,,
but here goes anyway..And I'm a newbie at making the ultimate XP CD.. I'm just glad I got a handle on files and folders and the register workings and batch files,, Or I would really be Toast,,,

I have been using the example there to get an idea of where to look I didn't give the chop to the lang folder cause it causes sfc /scannow to fail so I will not use any of the nlite or chop me up programs.. I have been doing it by hand and I have left the xp CD intacted except for a few folder that I can give the chop to.. I load the drivers from the CD then I call the runonceex from the D:\ drive ... whoo hoo .. I have all my fav programs on the D drive.. They load auto install now! whoo hoo saves time..

I am using a CD-RW and the d drive this way as updates come out I can update both...

Mac!

Why don't you burn a DVD and then you don't have to "chop" anything.

Using large emulated volume with iSCSI target (StarWind) could also help.

Do you mean continue automatically installing programs (post Windows unattended install) using the network/StarWind for the installation sources?
