  • "Unable to mount image. Invalid image file"

    Hi,
I have some DVDs that were made of our home videos. I want to make backup copies so I used Daemon Tools to create disc images of them. I tried both mdx and mds/mdf formats. The disc image generation appears to work perfectly, but when I try to mount the image I get the error message "Unable to mount image. Invalid image file".

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Mark

Which version of DAEMON Tools and which OS are you using ?

If the DVDs were recorded in a standalone DVD recorder they're maybe non-standard
...or DAEMON Tools doesn't handle them right

Either way, if you like, you can try to create remastered standard ISOs of the DVDs with DVD Shrink 3.2:
    DVD Shrink 3.2
DVD Shrink .info: v3.1 Full-Disk basic tutorial / tutoriel de base

After you hit the Backup! button select "ISO image file" as backup target.
I'm not employed by Disc Soft and my views do not necessarily reflect the ones of the company.

Thanks for the suggestion. For now I have simply copied the VIDEO_TS directory and its contents. When I burn it back to a DVD-R it works, so I'm happy.
