Wrong disc inserted

Just got NHL 2006 on my computer but when I try and start the game I get one of two messages

* No disc inserted. Please insert the correct disc in your CD drive or
* please insert disc nr 2 in your CD drive.

I do as they say but it doesn't get me into the game so if anyone can please help me I'd be very grateful

Does it work from the original DVD?
