View Full Version : Having problem with installation...
Hello. I'm using windows xp pro, and when i try to install
daemon tools, an error message comes out saying that there is some
problem with "Windows Installer"...
As far as I know, Windows Installer is supposed to be included with
WinXp, and there's no place to d/l it....
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Please post the error message ...
"Unable to access Windows Installer service. This can occur if Windows is running in safe mode or if Windows Installer isn't installed properly.
Please ask your technical advisor for further details."
I'm not running in safe mode, and I thought Windows Installer was included in Windows Xp....

Make sure the service is not disabled in management console.
Maybe it got somehow corrupted - download the latest version and install again. A link is on our main page!
thanks for the replies~ :)
1) The 'Windows Installer' programs on the min page are only for
Win98/ME and WinNT/2k... they don't work on WinXp...
2) How can I check if the service is disabled or not in 'Management Console'?...

1) Take the one for NT/2K!
2) Start 'comexp.msc' and check local services (hope it's called like that as I use german XP). There you should find an entry called 'Windows Installer'. Check if it's started and if it's started automatically or manually!
Thanks for the info! It seems that it was turned off...
Everything is back to normal now. Thanks again! :)
(btw, it was 'services.msc' for me)
