  • SPTD Driver detected an internal error in its data structures

    Hello,

I uninstalled Alcohol 1.9.5, then started installing DT 4.03, but the SPTD driver won't load and the event viewer reports:

    Source: sptd EventID: 4
"Driver detected an internal error in its data structures for ."

without any other details. Obviously, DT won't complete the installation.

I didn't have any previously installed SCSI driver (except maybe Alcohol, that was uninstalled), but I have the Sonic RecordNow! Plus burner and a "Patin Couffin engine" under "VSO devices" in the device manager.

I'd appreciate some suggestion, before I take any further action.

    Thank you,
    /_urka

    ...

The event log information you pasted is almost always a warning and nothing critical.

Please report your exact error message from DAEMON Tools rather than saying "won't load".

Do you have an error message displayed when running the 4.03 installation program?

The event is an error: red cross.

DT setup reports (right after pressing "I Agree"):
      "Internal setup error. Contact support."

The problem appears to be another variant of the "ownerless registry key". It seems to me that, once the first installation goes wrong and causes that unreadable Cfg key to appear, there is no way to get around it.

I'll make some other tests to see if there is something that screws up the installation of the SPDT driver.

      Thank you,
      /_urka

Hi, I have the same issue.

When I start my computer I always have a popup telling me that a driver or a service failed to start.

I uninstalled D-Tools and nothing has changed.

I'm not sure if this event log entry would generate that pop up message. Its hard to tell if the SPTD driver finished loading or not. The message you pasted from the event log is usually just a warning message.

I would try to rename windows\system32\drivers\sptd.sys and if you see access denied then you'll know SPTD is actually running.

What messages do you see when you try to load the DAEMON Tools tray icon?

                Any solution?

After the last Windows Update I got the same error.
Daemon refused to start, giving me Initialization error.. bla bla.. win2000 & stpd 1.21+ required.

I tried to reinstall daemon, it didnt help me. I downloaded stpd_inst and tried to install the driver. Nothing changed after installation reboot. On uninstall attempt it says that stpd is not installed.

                Event log keeps giving me
"Driver detected an internal error in its data structures for ." from stpd.

                I'm using Windows Server 2003 64bit

Check the thread about Daemon Tools stopped working after Windows update of x64.

I get the same event in my windows event log, but I do not have XP x64. I'm running the x86 version of XP Home and also use the x86 version of DT 4.0.3.

My DT installation runs fine by the way. I just noticed those errors in the system type event log. I get 4 of those event entries during windows boot up. First two with the same time stamp, 2 seconds later again 2 with the same time stamp.
I have set the number of drives to 2 so maybe 2 event entries per drive?

By the way, I had the same type of event entry when running the 347 version of DT. Only then it was a message from d347bus driver, but same event ID. Only two messages at that time though I also had set the number of devices to 2.

Like I said, DT is working fine with me and I did not get installation errors. Just curious about this event entry and would like to get rid of them
