After a successful install and uninstall, why are DT files left on the system (dtscsi.sys, sptd.sys, any more?)?

NOTE: DAEMON Tools V4 also uses SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) driver to access cdroms and it is also automatically installed during DT setup. But SPTD is not removed during uninstallation because it may be used not only by DAEMON Tools but by other applications as well and its removal may disrupt these applications.

So even though there may already be an SPTD installed on the system ("because it may be used by other applications"), the DAEMON TOOLS V4 installer in going to install it anyway.

Does this seem like a practical way an installer to work?
Couldn't the installer check to see if sptd was already on the system, and if found or NOT found, have that information available for the uninstaller?

Is there any way to find out if sptd is needed by any other application besides DT, so that it could be safely removed or not?

SPTD has to be uninstalled with the sptdinst install program.

To remove the SPTD-driver, download the sptdinst_x86 (program name changes if using the 64-bit version, 32-bit ends in _x86) program from the downloads section of this website and via the command-console black screen, execute it "sptdinst_x86.exe remove" and SPTD will remove itself from your windows installation.
