  • SPTD.SYS - problem, system won't boot

I have two computers, one with DAEMON [called Computer A],
and one without DAEMON [called Computer B]
    (Both Windows XP, A is SP1, B is SP2)

one day, I realized my computer A was slow
so I ran anti-virus and spyware search.
SPTD.sys file was found infected so I tried to fix it and failed.
tried to rename and failed, so I just erased it.

next thing I know, when I tried to log on to dif. account,
I automatically logged out. And was back to WELCOME page
of Windows XP (page that shows all the user accounts)

so I reinstalled Windows XP on Computer A, thinkning it was Windows problem.
but it couldn't find "SPTD.SYS" and showed me the
    BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!

I thought it was a virus so I put the Hard Drive of Computer A [called, E drive] into Computer B [called, C drive],

Computer B is currently running on C Drive.
and E Drive is just connected as a secondary Drive
after 15 minutes of internet searching,
I found out SPTD.SYS is for DAEMON tool.

    So I figured.
"If I uninstall DAEMON from Drive E, everything will be fine"

    WRONG!

    I coudln't uninstall it because
the uninst.exe file didn't work with error message
"Setup is unavailable to validate installation"
    and I can't boot from Drive E
    because I'm missing SPTD.sys

    Can anybody help me out?
    [It is DAEMON 4.8]

    Thanks in advance

P.S: it does not show up in Add/Remove program either.

If SPTD layer is not present, Daemon Tools won't work, thus you can just delete its installation folder.
Did you try to install SPTD layer v1.47 yet?
Need to mount or create an image? DAEMON Tools software is here at your service. Choose from laconic Lite, powerful Ultra or old but gold Pro and try for free.

I cannot boot from a drive with DAEMON.
how am I supposed to install SPTD and
register it in registry if I can't boot from the disk with DAEMON?
