  • Fixed "missing CD drive" problem--want to know how I did it

    There are posts here and there about losing the CD drive just after installing Daemon. It happened to me. Nothing I tried from these forums worked. However, after a general web search I found a regedit that did the trick. Since then, it has happened again even though Daemon has not be reinstalled (I still think Daemon somehow created the problem since it happened to me immediately after install, and it has happened to others. However, I reran the regedit and it fixed it again. I wonder if someone can suggest how the following edit helped, just so I will understand what's up with my new system. I run Vista by the way.

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
    "UpperFilters"=-
    "LowerFilters"=-

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdr4_2K]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdralw2k]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdudf]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\UdfReadr]
