  • Settlers - Rise of an Empire

    the patch note says

"The DVD check is replaced by an online activation when certain third-party programs are installed. If you are asked for a serial number at the start of the game, please enter your CD key and follow the onscreen instructions to activate the game."

the game works fine without the update, but the patch has some key features that i'd like to have.

    anyway to bypass this?

The whole purpose of DAEMON Tools is of course to be undetectable.
However, it is up to you to check it out if it works (and you
should maybe consider to take down your online-connection
    while you test )

The only thing that I can assure you is that we check and fix
and inconveniences here for our customers ASAP - but according
to some of our users it seems to run anyway flawlessly in vIDE
    of DAEMON Tools Pro 218.

But like always: Should there be any problems, usually we fix it
for DAEMON Tools Pro very fast

Notice that it says "when certain third-party programs are installed". I think this means that these 'third-party programs' don't even need to be running, just having them installed on your system is enough.
If this is the case, then people with no online connection on their gaming PC can not even run the game from the original DVD if they have one of those 'third-party programs' installed (game detects it -> switches to online activation, but no internet connection). The only way they will be able to play the game is by uninstalling the 'third-party programs'.

Another example of a security measure that only annoys honest customers, as the warez kids will all be playing the game using cracks.

Somebody in our team found out that SPTD is blacklisted. After uninstalling it, he didnt need to activate it, anymore.

Is SPTD still needed for DTPro Adv
          as it supports vIDE?

As i know we still need SPTD for DTP Advanced.

Then it is impossible to run DT (in any current edition)
              without having SPTD installed, right?

Yes, you will get an error from DT which tells you it requires at least Windows 2000 and SPTD 1.43.

So if a copy protection has SPTD
blacklisted it is useless to mount
the image in a vIDE device, but it
must be mounted in a vSCSI device
and YASU must cloak this device
to also cloak SPTD, am I right?

As i know YASU doesnt cloak SPTD.

vSCSI and vIDE does use SPTD, so if copy protection blacklist SPTD you can't play the game with DT or Alcohol yet.

Is there any other software that needs SPTD to run? Cause the only one I know of are DT and Alcohol.

Installing new SPDT (1.51 beta) removes on-line activation window which means that either Tages or SolidShield were looking for SPTD during start-up check.

Mounting the image in Daemon Tools PRO as IDE drive works and the game starts up

I've updated the game @1.3!! Then i mounted the image in dtpro on a ide drive but it still say "insert original dvd...."
I've mistaken any step or what?

What would be needed version-wise to enable The Settlers VI to be updated to the latest version (which is 1.3) and still work with DAEMON Tools Lite?
