  • Installation Repeats Reboot

    I'm trying to install Daemon-Tools Lite 4.12.1 on Windows Vista Business 32-bit but after the first step that requires a reboot it comes back up (on it's own) after the reboot with the same step. It loops forever and I never get to the actual install! Please help!

    The funny thing is I took the same installation file and ran it on an almost identical machine with no problems. I think I might even have had Daemon-Tools installed on this computer before but uninstalled it.

      Seems there is a problem with SPTD start, ensure Start value in SPTD registry is 0 (HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd).
      You can also try to re-move and re-install SPTD layer (delete Daemon Tools installation folder), check this thread:

          I have tried the above steps but nothing works. I am running Vista Ultimate X64. I am installing SPTD 1.56 seprately. I install it and run the reboot. I try installing again to confirm it and it says no previous versions. The registry key is listed under HKLM\system\current control set\services\sptd and the start value is set to 1. I have removed this key and have rerun the install many times but it never seems to install.

            @homegeek

            Ensure you disabled every security software, also Windows Defender.

              They are all off. After a lot of playing around I figured it out. I changed the registry permission for everyone to have full control on the subkey first and deleted it and then was able to do the same thing on the main key. Once I was finally able to remove the key, I was able to properly install.

                Can you tell me which keys you deleted? Because I'm still in the endless reboot loop. Apparently so are a lot of other people
