  • Problems with Safedisc on CD

    Hello!

I have problem when trying to take an image of Safedisc protected CD. I get following error message:

"Read error encountered on sector: xxx Bad ECC/EDC block"

This happens with every Safedisc protected CD that I have tried. The discs are fine, no scratches or dirt. I can take images from CDs that are protected with SecuRom. What is the problem? I am using DT Pro Advanced.

That is normal for SafeDisc. That goes to about Sector 10000.

And then it will work? Ok, thanks. I'll try again.

Yes, these broken sectors used to make cd ripping take from 2 to 8 hours. Most users would press cancel because it would be so slow and terrible. But the hardware makers improved their cd readers to stop retrying 50 times for each sector(joke) and now these images can all be made in the same time as a normal cd.

That's nice to know. I can say it worked, as I fell for it.
