DVD Drive opens and closes all the time

Hello there,

today I installed Daemon Tools Lite 4.12.2!
After doing so, I recognized a problem.
My DVD-drive now opens and closes all the time.
I found out that it happens every time I refresh my browser, open a new site, or when I click on a link.

Virusscanner and Malwarescanners cannot find anything.
Also HijackThis cant find a problem.

I searched the web for a solution and found also topics where users had this problem after installing Daemon Tools Lite 4.12.2! But I couldnt find a solution there!

I also tried to deinstall my dvd-drive in the controlpanel ad deinstalled Daemon Tools Lite 4.12.2, but the problem is still there.

I'm using Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2.

Peculiar. Have you tried removing or disabling SPTD? If not, please try that and see if it removes the problem.

You can download the standalone SPTD installer/remover from here:
Disc-Tools.com - Published Software Download

And then you run it with the command line parameter "remove" (via Start -> Run, command prompt or a shortcut) - for example:

SPTDinst-v156-x86.exe remove

The DT team has written a thread about the removal of SPTD under "Common Problems and Solutions": http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/f26/...sptd-sys-6828/

If the removal of SPTD actually does fix your problem, then perhaps you should send this in an e-mail to support [at] daemon-tools [dot] cc.

Hi and thanks for the answer.

By now I fixed the problem somehow.
Yesterday evening I did a system recovery (or system restore, dont know the exact english term in the english windows version )
I picked a recoverypoint and started recovery.
At least the recovery did not really worked -due to a failure-, so I tried some others.
None of the recoverypoints were working, but now my dvd drive is not making these strange things anymore!!!

Strange, but I'm happy to get rid of this!

Well, here I am again.

Some weeks ago I tried to install a different version of Daemon Tolls again.
After doing so, my dvd drive did the same thing mentioned in 1st post.

Now I tried to do like mastermind said.
I removed sptd!
This worked and my dvd drive is quiet now

But: Daemon Tools doesnt work anymore, so I had to deinstall it.

I just wrote a mail to the support, like you, mastermind, told me.

You have to report that error to DuplexSecure then. They are responsible for SPTD.
