  • Mounting image from non-virtual CD/DVD drive freezes Windows XP

    Symptoms:

Mounting an image from my non-virtual dvd drive freezes my windows xp, while mounting the same image from my hdd works fine. It's not connected particularly to any image files. It happens every time, with every image file.

    My Relevant System Specs:

    - Lenovo Support & downloads - ThinkPad R61 7742-NCG support
    - "Original description: T8300(2.4GHz), 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, FPR, 6c Li-Ion, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 SP1" + 1GB RAM (2GB RAM total)

    Storage:

    USB Device TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor
    USB Device USB HID
    ...

Windows XP Professional HU SP3 (5.1.2600.5512)
    Daemon Tools Lite 4.12.3

If it's not enough, just ask...

    Opinion:

I guess it's my cd/dvd drive. Or some kind of software bug (e.g. my firewall and fingerprint reader software in pair caused BSoDs)...
I think the error is in explorer.exe, not in daemon.exe.

    Thanks.

You talked about BSODs. Could you post some minidumps (windows\minidump folder).
Make something idiot proof, but then they just make a better idiot

Well, in the end I had to reinstall my system. So I don't have any minidumps. But I'm not experiencing the aforementioned problems, daemon tools is working as it should. I'll leave a post here, if I can determine which software was the cause of the problems (I haven't reinstalled everything, just the base system). I hope the symptoms won't turn up again.
