  • BSOD - adobe acrobat - Daemon?

    Hi,

I have started using Daemon tools just a few days ago, and am extremely happy that it enables one of my dictionary software (using securom 7) to run even without YASU. My Alcohol failed to do that. Thank you very much for the nice software.

However, I discovered now that whenever I try to open an existing PDF file or print to a document with the acrobat printer driver, BSOD occurs.

    1. The error code is 00008086.
    2. Full checkdisk run twice and found that the system volume is 'clean'.
    3. Daemon was the last piece of software installed.
    4. Daemon was uninstalled but the problem persists (meaning opening an existing PDF file or printing to the acrobat printer driver triggers BSOD; otherwise the PC runs OK).

In conclusion, I am not sure if Daemon is the culprit, and would like to seek your advice.

    Thank you in advance.

Which DT and Adobe Acrobat version?
Could you post the latest minidump (windows\minidump)?

      Daemon Tools Lite 4.30.2
      Adobe Acrobat Professiona v 8.12

As for minidump, how do I post it? It's quite a big file...

      Cheers,

Upload the minidump to e. g. megaupload and post the link here.

Sorry to sound like an idiot but what is a megaupload? Anyway, I have just sent it to the support email as detailed in the 'what to do if problem occurs' threat. Hope it is acceptable.

By the way, 4.30.1 is my first encounter with daemon. I did not iinstall any previous version.

          Cheers

Megaupload is a free upload service.

We will check it - have you included a link to this thread in email?

Seems to be caused by iastor.sys - ensure you use newest version of this problematic driver.

Update Intel Matrix Storage Manager and the other Intel software and drivers.

                    Hi,

I have updated the driver to the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager as per your instruction. Now the good news is BOSD does not occur. The bad news is, the system hangs completely, hitting any key does not generate a response. I have sent the minidump to your support. Would really appreciate your advice.

P.S. I have temporarily removed Daemon Tools, with the intention of reinstalling it later because I really need it to run an important software.

                    Thanks!

                      Hi,

                      I have:
                      1. rolled back my system to before Daemon installation
                      2. updated the driver to the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager
                      3. installed daemon
                      4. set physical DVD drv to D:
                      5. set 1 daemon to F:

                      The outcome is:
                      1. the systme hangs as before when PDF files are opened. So this has probably confirmed that Daemon is not the culprit. Good News!
                      2. however, now the virtual CD does not running. Error message "8002 use of TwinPeak CD".
                      3. I have tried switch Daemon to drv D, and even disable the physical drive but to no avail.
                      4. Is there any thing I can do to run the CD image? What kind of info must I provide so that you can help me?

                      You advice is greatly appreciated.

                      Cheers,
                      Minami
