  • how to make an image of a protected game?

    Hi all

I'm new to this this. After reading through the boards, I have a general idea how to do it but there's still qns here and there.

Let's say I have a game cd. I want to make a ISO of it.

    1) Use ProtectionID to identify the protection used.
    2) Use Alcohol to make the ISO
    3) Mount the ISO using Daemon

Then I want to burn the ISO onto a backup CD or DVD

    1) Use Alcohol to burn it. Can i use Roxio or Nero to burn?

    Qns:

    1) Are there other ways of doing it?
    2) For Alcohol, i only need Alcohol52 to make a ISO but Alcohol120 to burn right?
    3) When mounting using Daemon, does Daemon need to emulate the copy protection thingy? e.g. secuROM, safeDisc
    4) And also please correct my steps above

    1. You can also look into our Game Database
    2. ISO isn't a proper format for copy protectedgames. Use mdf/mds instead (Alcohol and DAEMON Tools Pro are creating that image type)
    3. When mounting, you don't have to activate emulation options, they are only for burned media

You can also take a look into DAEMON Tools Professional Help: Program overview.
Make something idiot proof, but then they just make a better idiot
