  • My real cdrom/dvdrom drives are missing

Hi in the forum Common problems There is a situation described for windows XP. I have tried to fix it by deleting the lowerfilter in regedit. but his isn't working. I am working with a Dell Vostro 1510 and I read there is something about Roxio which is supplied with the laptop.

I am not sure what to do and how to fix this for Windows Vista. can anybody help me with this?

I had a similar problem recently, and I found that following the instructions here fixed it: The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista

I haven't actually looked at the instructions for XP, but for Vista apparently you need to delete both LowerFilters and UpperFilters from the registry.

      Hopefully that will help.
