  • Unable to install daemon tools

When trying to install Daemon tools it says I have to reboot to complete the installation (which is normal), after I reboot and try to complete the installation it doesn't go any further - keeps on asking me to reboot over and over again. so after doing it about 20 billion times, i decided to try and seek for help here.

btw, running Windows 7 (not the beta version, the full, real deal one).

Did the first step - didn't work.
then downloaded and ran the SPTD stand-alone installer, got the error:

it says no SPTD layer version detected
      after that, did this:

Also check if r0 key exists in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\sptd.

Delete r0, reboot, then try again.

Couldn't delete it, got an error saying:

Then tried to do the so called last resort step:

As last resort uninstall all software using SPTD layer (e.g. DAEMON Tools, Alcohol), open Registry Editor, browse the

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\sptd key, set Start value to 4 (i.e. disabled), and reboot.
but wasn't able to complete it, because I don't have the "\sptd key" folder.

      soooo, now i'm stuck :F

You got the error with deleting as SPTD was still running.
You have that key, it is the one you wanted to delete. Also the key is called SPTD and there are only keys, not folders.
There just set Start value to 4 and reboot and then you can delete.
