  • Booting Problem in Win XP sp2

    Hi,

I had installed daemon lite 4.35.5 on my win xp sp2. It asked for a restart, after which my OS hanged on the win logo screen. On re-starting in safe mode, it stopped loading after "sptd.sys". After lot of searching and reading i did all the things that were suggested which are :
    1) Rename the sptd.sys with a new name in recovery mode of xp
(After this my OS only boots in safe mode)
    2) Uninstalled the sptd.sys using SPTDinst-v162-x86.exe
    3) Uninstalled the Daemon lite from control panel

Even after this, i am still not able to boot in normal mode. I also cannot boot in safe mode with networking. Only safe mode without networking(and command line) works.

I have searched a lot but none seems to cater to this problem.

Boot into safe mode without networking -> regedit -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\SPTD\Start

Set that value to 4 and reboot.
Make something idiot proof, but then they just make a better idiot
