  • disc drives not reading.

    OS: XP SP 2
    cd drive: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H24N
after installing the latest daemon tools, i found that after i had rebooted i could not use my disc drives when i put a cd/dvd in the disc name changes from DVD RAM Drive (F to CD Drive ( F and when i try to open it, it says Please insert disc.

I had this problem befor when i installed the new daemon tools thinking it was just a wierd bug of that version and fixed it by going into regedit and deleting lower filters / fields. it worked but when i tried a new version of daemon it happened again now there are no upper or lower fields/filters in the registry but i can't use any disc's.

The only way i can use the disc drive is if i put a cd in it before windows starts and then it will work, but if i start without it the name of the disc drive changes to CD Drive and when i try to open it says please insert disc.

this also happened once with the virtual drive from daemon tools.

    I have tried.

    * uninstalling daemon tools and SPTD 1.62
    *system restore
    *reg edit lower upper fields
    *uninstalling disc drive hardware
    *disabling and enabling disc drive.

I'm pritty sure its not a hard ware problem.

any help would be great thank you.
