After I download Daemon Tools Lite, I double click the file (which looks like a blank piece of paper), which I assume should be an .exe file, but my computer asks me which program i want to use to acess the file

this is probably a problem associated with Vista,
because it sucks.

Try to re-download it from Disc-Tools.com (http://www.disc-tools.com/download/dtpro).
Also check MD5 of downloaded file. It should be equal to a value specified on Disc-Tools.com (http://www.disc-tools.com/download/dtpro) page.

MD5 checksum allows you to check whether downloaded file has arrived intact. If the checksums do not match, the file was most probably corrupted.

Use MD5 Checker (http://www.fastsum.com/press/md5-checker.php) or some similar program.

Also you can use HashCalc (http://www.disc-tools.com/download/hashcalc).

Fastsum said that the file status has not been changed in between the source and the dstination.
