  • Backup Win98?

Can a tool such as Alcohol 120 be used to make a working copy of a Windows 98se installation CD?

    Thanks, jimbo

I've copied my XP Pro CD, so any other one should copy too.

Are there any tricky settings? Is there a copy protection scheme recognized by ClonyXXL?

        Thanks, jimbo

As a rule of thumb, there is no physical protection on any microsoft applications.

I've got one more note, though. I had to use Nero to copy XP. Blindwrite locked at the end of the read, both tries. I didn't run XP through ClonyXXL, though.

Well, I used ******** to make a copy of Win98se. Copy image to hard drive, then burn a CD. ClonyXXL reported no copy protection. Everything went with no reported problems. But, when I tried to run from the CD startup menu, I got the dreaded "insert CD" message.

But, when I simply used Explorer to browse the CD and then run setup.exe, everything worked perfectly. So, I have a working backup copy of my Win98se installation CD.

              Regards, jimbo
