Trouble mounting MDX files

I made several disk images of DVD-R disks in .mdx format using DTLite4402-0131. No error messages afterwards. Now when I try to mount them it gives the Message "Unable to mount image. Invalid image file."
I upgraded to the latest version of DTLite but still same problem.
I threw away the original disks as I was moving to another country. I know I should have checked them before but as usual doing everything at last minute did not have time. I am running windows Home Premium on a Dell XPS Laptop just purchased before the move. I did rename the files afterwards is there any limitations on filename?
Would be grateful for any suggestions on what i can do to recover the files

In case you copied your files from one location to another, they can be damaged. Please check MD5 checksum if you still have original files.
