i must have missed a memo when the new dt virtual drive was added. now dt pro has dt vd, scsi vd and ide vd. what's the deal with the dt vd? is it better or more powerful than the vide?

i also noticed that newer dt versions no longer install sptd. reason?

DT drives use simple emulation (no sptd, no protection).
Make something idiot proof, but then they just make a better idiot

It's optional now, if it gets unticked during setup it will be installed as soon as you create a SCSI/IDE drive.

The SPTD-less drive was introduced with the 4.40.x revisions of Lite/Pro.
Many people don't need advanced emulation and/or have issue with their security apps conflicting with SPTD.
Furthermore the DT drive can be used for aportable installation.

Very few light protections do also work in the DT drive, e.g. the custom EA protection used in Dragon Age or all Sims 3 games.
I'm not employed by Disc Soft and my views do not necessarily reflect the ones of the company.
