  • Error Installing Daemon-Tools 3.47

Operating System: Windows XP SP2 Professional
    Burning Software: Alcohol 120%
    Anti-virus Software: None
    DAEMON Tools Version: 3.47

I recently upgraded to XP SP2 and installed 3.46 of Daemon tools, everything runs fine until I tried upgrading today to 3.47. I started out by exiting Daemon tools and installing, however, after installing 3.47 I found that the old virtual drives were still there and with the images still mounted on them, 3.47 also created 4 new virtual drives. So I decided maybe it would be a good idea to use system restore to restore to yesterday, uninstall daemon tools 3.46 then install 3.47, but now I get this error message when trying to install 3.47:

A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file:
    C:\Windows\Installer\daemon.msi

Can someone explain how to fix this?

Un-install Daemon Tools, reboot, check thread about error 25002 in common problems and solutions forum to remove leftovers from previous Daemon Tools installation(s), reboot, then re-install v3.47.

I tried to uninstall Daemon 3.46 and get this error:

So I tried to do the steps of removing the drivers first. The virtual drives are gone now but I still get the error message when trying to uninstall daemon tools, trying to install daemon tools also gets me the same error.

Most likely this is simple permission problem in folder where daemon.msi is located. Give everyone full access to it to be sure.
