  • Have lost both removable drives, even after uninstalling Daemon Tools

Operating System: Windows XP SP2 (OEM SP2 installation)
    Burning Software: Nero Ultra 6.6.0.8
Anti-virus Software: Trend Micro OfficeScan 6.5
    DAEMON Tools Version: 3.4.7

I have a Shuttle XPC with a built-in multi-format card reader (SD, MMC, MS, CF). Before I installed Daemon Tools, the card reader showed up in Explorer as removable drives E and F (with DVD as D) and inserting a card gave the usual "What do you want to do with this card?" window.

After I installed DT347, both removable drives disappeared and DT showed itself as another CD/DVD drive on E.

Even after disabling DT, the card reader did not recognise any cards inserted. Then, after uninstalling DT and rebooting (per the instructions), I now only have the C and D drives - both the removable drives are still missing and inserting a card does not provoke a reaction from Windows as it used to.

    Please can anyone help

    The solution!

    1. Turn off your PC.
    2. Disconnect the power cable of your PC.
    3. Press the power button for 15 seconds.
    4. Connect the power cable of your PC.
    5. Press the power button of your PC.

I don't know how it's possible, but it managed me to get my removable drives back. Good luck!

This thread is almost 8 months old. I doubt they're still checking this thread after all this time.
