  • Help with Microsoft Games

Hi, I'm having troubles making image files of any game I have from Microsoft Game Studios, such as Rise of Nations and Age of Empires II. I keep getting errors when trying to copy it, "Data read error at block: ****." I was wondering if anyone could tell me get around that. I'm using the proper settings for the encryption (SafeDisc 2/3) in Alcohol 120%. Any help is much appreciated.

Don't worry about the errors, they're part of the Safedisc protection. Just let it run, the errors will stop around sector 10000.

So these errors won't cause any of problems with the image?

No, in fact the errors are needed to get a working image. Safedisc checks for these errors when you launch your games.
That's also the reason why images in iso or bin/cue format never work for protected games. These formats can not contain the disc's protection information, only Alcohol's mdf/mds and CloneCD's ccd format can contain this kind of info.
