  • Reboot when installing DTools

    Operating System: Windows XP
    Burning Software: Nero
Anti-virus Software: Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 8.1.0.825
    DAEMON Tools Version: latest

OK. I had this problem some time ago and it was due to some copy protection drivers conflicting. Safedisk/starforce or something????

Anyway, the problem is this. When installing, and before the install completes, my PC reboots. The install has failed and DTool is not in Add remove programs. But it has put some files on my system.

I think last time it was just a case of renaming the offending naughty copy protection drivers, and then installing Dtools. But now I can't remember what they were called and I've googled for hours

    Can anyone help?

In case of Starforce check thread about BSOD in SCSIPORT.SYS in common problems and solutions forum.

OK! I found the old driver files that I had to delete last time. (Last time I renamed them to .sys_old extensions.)

      They were:

      prodrv06.sys
      prohlp02.sys
      prosync1.sys
      sfhlp01.sys

      (Starforce drivers)

Very damned annoying! Should be illegal.

Anyway, I renamed them, and followed the instructions on the manual removal of D-Tools.

      Now all is cool!
