  • StarForce & USB CD/DVD ROM

Why StarForce3 backup CD can't run under normal IDE drive(not virtaul cd-rom)?What is the difference of the backup between IDE and USB drive if RMPS emulation is enabled

    Thanks...

  • #2
For some reason StarForce cannot read the CD/DVD as well when it is placed in a USB drive. And therefore it thinks it is the original.

When making starforce3 backup CD, that DPM option need to be turned on.So starForce uses the same trick as SecuRom in some part, but what does Starforce3 do in addition to prevent RMPS emulation in IDE drive?

by the way, someone talked about StarForce3 driver , but I can find any in task manger. What is the name of SF driver?

      thanks.

Starforce uses its own IDE driver, that's the trick.
Drivers are not visible in task manager, so you can't find it there. Check in device manager, and enable the view of non PnP drivers.

Thanks, I saw them(3) in Device Manager.

Back to the USB CD/DVD-ROM solution, is it possible for Starforce to fix this problem and forbid to run games on USB CD-ROM?If so, will starforce become unbreakable?

btw,is it possible for DT to emulate itself as SF drive to skip protection check?

          Thanks!

What I've heard the 3.5.x versions of SF no longer have the USB vulnerability.

o_O does that mean the next DT will be able to get around this somehow?

Too bad the "sunshine" won't last long.
                      Why do you say that?

                      If it's because of this:
What I've heard the 3.5.x versions of SF no longer have the USB vulnerability.
                      I hope you're wrong, because
Just be patient, there're funny things coming up.
might mean it's possible to get around it easier.

                      Ignore if I misunderstood :P

                      Though still:
o_O does that mean the next DT will be able to get around this somehow?

The newest "vercion" works absolutely perfectly with your original disc.
By the way, why are you laughing at the floor? Some kind of seizure?
