  • CloneDVD cannot copy a concert DVD

I could not copy a DVD containing a concert performance on to another blank DVD disk using CloneDVD and AnyDVD. The error message on CloneDVD says it does not know the format of the source DVD disk.

For your information, I paste a file listing of the source DVD disk below.

Volume in drive F is TDK_NEUJAHRSKONZERT_2002
    Volume Serial Number is 4A05-F982

    32 File(s) 0 bytes
    2 Dir(s) 0 bytes free

You may note that each of the files contains 0 byte. This sort of file listing structure is similar to the file listing of a CD audio disk.

Please could you tell me how to solve this problem or if I can use DVD Shrink to rip it instead. I also used PowerDVD to play the DVD disk, but it says the disk is not of a supported type.

Is this an original pressed DVD? Because it looks like a corrupt table of contents or some similar screwup...

how's all that related to Daemon Tools?

You may check also CloneDVD support-forum, maybe some bug in their soft-
      ware

Thank you very much. I will check it out again and run either DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter and see if the problem could be solved. But, first, I will have to download and install the two applications to which someone has introduced me just recently. However, please could somebody tell me the difference between the two applications and which one should fare better than the other. Thanks.

dvddecrypter can read css-protected discs and store them as image-file on
your hdd, which you can then mount with Daemon Tools. This nice app is also
capable to write that image back to a DVD-R/RW, even double-layer is supported.

The problem is that dvddecrypter support has stopped as it violates the DCMA in USA and most european countries. The developer of this application is part
of our team also, so maybe he will explain it to you more detailed. However,
a websearch should still find some links for that application, as in some countries it's still not illegal (or something in between )

DVD Shrink is not only a decrypter, but also able to recompress via a fast
transcoder the content of a DVD movie in a short time so it fits on a single-
layer DVD-R (4.36GB). It is also possible to write back the content to a DVD-R
with this application (iirc, you also need the nero-engine, didn't used that prog
for ages, as I run a beamer and therefore always buy me original-DVD's because of the movie-experience and quality, no compromises
          - so I don't know exactly, maybe it's possible now even without nero)

As already mentioned, this program is able to read protected discs, too and
is therefore not available (iirc!!!) -> you must search on your own. We can't
help you with links or further information.
