  • Hidden registry entry, created by Daemon tools?

    Hi,

after reading about the behaviour of Sony's drm system I decided to run SysInternals RootkitRevealer on my computer. It found a hidden value in my registry at HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\d346prt\Cfg\0Jf 40. I understand that d346prt is a driver that is part of Daemon tools.

Is there a reason for this being hidden, or is it my registry that is corrupted in some way?

    ...

The mentioned behavior of DAEMON Tools is by design. Nothing to worry about.

Glad you noticed it though. More people need to check their system with those kind of tools/scanners.

to be more specific - yes, this is hidden - and to be exact, it is the virtual drive that you created via DT.

Hence, a person with "2" drives will have 2 entires like that, and 3 will have 3, etc...

Hence I have 4 of them - and the first time that Root kit revealer found them I disabled my drives, re-ran root kit revealer, and it found none- and I was satisfied that these were in fact harmless, and their 'hidden' status was by design.
