  • Does it work if you just uninstall drives instead of unplugging them?

    Hi,

I don't have any StarForce-protected game, but I'd like to know the answer to this question:

Can you just uninstall your optical drives instead of physically unplugging them?

By "uninstalling" your optical drives I mean going to the Device Manager, right-clicking on them and left-clicking "Uninstall".

Could someone please confirm if it does or doesn't work?

I'm asking this because some people cannot easily open their computer cases (for example, Acer puts a sticker on the case of their PCs which voids your warranty if it's removed!)

    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards.

      Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I'm a bit wary of using more tools that tinker with the system, so I'd very much prefer to do things manually.

Could you please try the method I mentioned?

I'd really really like to know whether it works or not!

      Thank you.

I tried it. Uninstalled my drives and my seconadary IDE channel, which are my optical drives. Still didn't work.
