    dear sirs,

please be advised that you seem to misinterpret my intentions. i am not trying to find a way to play the games using ad hoc methods. my intentions are to make "perfect" images. nothing more, nothing less.

i can start my car using the keys, and that's my preferred method. i suppose i could also hotwire it and it would produce the same result, albeit not as elegant.

I've finally understood you can't reproduce something like this with such a clean system, so let me assure you this is no 'rumor spreading'. I don't say it's intended, but some SF versions can interfere with DPM.
Otherwise it must have been a frequent coincidence that after removing SF drivers people were able to perform DPM again.

Irrespective of your real issue: you can use such an "halfmeasured" Alc image as DPM info of second layer isn't needed.

    EDIT: @Reef, i'm too slow

Actually there is no need for DPM from the second layer. I mainly use Blindwrite's BWA Builder to get DPM from SecuROM protected discs. I just let it extract the first 150.000 sectors and then I quit the process and save the BWA file.
Then I run Alcohol or DT Pro and create an image without DPM. After that is finished I use the injector to inject the BWA file into de .mds from the image. Works great and it's a lot quicker than extracting the full DPM. Why wait for a full DPM extract when SecuROM only needs the first 150.000 sectors?

I think it would be nice to have an option in DT Pro to set the amount of sectors needed for DPM extraction. Gonna put this in the suggestions forum too

please listen, as you are on the "team" you should know this by now!! starforce drivers do not interfere with image creation - they never have!!

i stated before many times, that i use a "clean" system to create images. no games of any kind installed on that setup, ever; therefore no starforce/securom/safedisc/tages et al drivers. nothing running on the taskbar except the clock.

i can remake any other securom dvd-5/dvd-9 game that i already made just fine, so it's not something that may have just happened somehow in the meantime.

i tried latest alcohol. with the asus drive, i tried all dpm speeds from max to 1x and in between... all fail, let me elaborate - they fail in the way that it can not extract the second layer, i should say. so it does finish the image but with the second layer mds part not extracted.

it's not the only game: so far i have personally only had 3 securom dvd discs fail on me using alcohol and out of those 2 on dt pro. thay are dark messiah, supreme commander and race07. dark messiah and race 07 fails on latest dt pro (i have not tried every speed combination but most)

both development teams have admitted issues with dark messiah extraction, before. so it is/was a known issue. (just like with settlers 6)

i tried dt pro - same thing
following are just some of the options and drives i tried with dt pro:

Have you checked with one of those titles you measured successfully before whether it's a general DPM problem at the moment ? e.g. some Starforce driver versions interfere with DPM. Have you installed some SF title lately ?

Or is only Race 07 problematic ? Maybe a faulty DVD

Does DPM start at all ?
Do your other drives fail as well ?

i'm not interested in "injecting" and getting a good mds from somewhere... i want dt pro (alcohol fails too) to make a good race07 image for me using my own stuff. the drive is a sata drw-1814blt (1.13) that can make perfect securom mds's of many many many games. here are some of them:

    Blacksite
    Crysis
    Empire Earth III
    F.E.A.R. - Perseus Mandate
Sam & Max - Season One
    Hellgate: London
    NBA LIVE 08
    FIFA 08
    BioShock

    etc.......

Here you can find DPM files of the german version. It might work for your version as well if you transfer the DPM info of the BWA into your own MDS file with the tool .

Has your Asus managed to perform any DPM at all, yet ?
Which model do you have ?
