How to determine if mdx image is compressed

I need a way to determine if mdx images were created with the compress option.

If an mdx image isn't working how can I know if it is compressed or not. Also I started non-compressed and now I want to go back make compressed images of the ones I didn't compress and right now I'm looking at doing it all.
