DVD-RAM drive disappeard

But ignoring all the vista gubbins. On Windows XP Home SP2.
Matshita DVD-RAM UJ 820S (notebook) drive. Dissappeared after installing DT. I've tried the following:
- Uninstalling DT
- Renaming SPTD so it can't be found (nothing went wrong so I guess nothing else needed it).
- Disabling SPTD via the registry (this thread: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/my-s...ter-t6828.html )
- Removing and re-finding the drive using Windows Device hardware multiple times before/after most steps listed here..
- Uninstalled the Gearworks driver.
- Reinstalled the gearworks driver.
- Tried doing the "remove the registry entry" on http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;320553 but there are no REG_MULTI_SZ or *Filter entries. See also: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/showthread.php?p=76343


So any ideas short of re-installing windows (a definate non-option)?
Note: There are no drivers for this drive. Just regular windows ones should be sufficient.

Further note: the drive doesn't appear when in safe mode either.
Also, now on trying to re-install DT there aren't any drives for that either (and the registry has been re-enabled) even though there are two set.

What ELSE do I need to do to remove DT from the system?
