  • DT (Free) and ISZ-Images

    Hi,

it would be nice, DT (Free) would display a message when trying to mount an encrypted ISZ-Image with incorrect password (as DT does in case of MDF/MDS files).

It's very confusing, when you type in an incorrect password and DT seems to mount it correctly. But when you try to access the DT drive in this case, you get the message, that there is no disc in the drive.

    Just a suggestion.

Yes, this is known issue with isz images. But unfortunately it is prob of ISZ format itself - it has no way to check if password was ok or not: with wrong password it simply decrypts crap as password is used as key itself and no validation is present.
    MDS/MDF though have additional checks.

I guessed it. But UltraISO has the ability to check that.
You get an error message if the password is incorrect.
Something like: "The image file has an unknown format."

Is there no way to check specific locations for specific bytes only ISO, UDF etc. has at that specific position?

checking sector 16 for the CD00 tag might be a quick and easy way to validate it

Actually image may have any file system (eg. for Mac etc.) - such check won't be reliable.

it'll do for pc though wont it, i think the amount of people mounting macintosh images on a pc would be quite low compared to those mounting pc images on a pc... no?

You could do it with a checkable option, e.g. "Check for PC-CD filesystem" or so...

Ok, we'll simply add check for PC compatible image (ISO-9660 or UDF).
