  • Drive suggestion for backing up PC games?

Many people on here have very good knowledge of making backups of games, so i figured this is the place ask this question.

I am looking for a new SATA burner to make backups of the games I bought. My thoughts so far are:

    - internal drive

    - interface must be SATA

    - good speed at burning files (ie. family photo/video etc onto cd/dvd)

    - be able to read all copy-protections on PC games these days so i can make backups (most important factor)

    - noise not really an issue, as long as it's not TOO loud

    - not considering blueray, lightscribe

    - hopefully it's readily available in Canada

I have read the post "Drive suggestion" in this section but the drive Blazkowicz recommended (thanks Blazkowicz), LG GH20NS10, is not available in Canada; at least i can't find it in any of the stores in my area. sigh. But I did look at some other LG drives and by the looks of it the LG GH22NS30 (Newegg.ca - LG Black 22X (CAV) DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X (CAV) DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners) seems to be popular. So does anyone have any experience with this drive? Or anyone has recommendations other than LG drives?

I have the LG 20x Internal Super Multi DVD Rewriter. I have no problems with it at all. I would say go ahead and get it. I'd shop around though for the best price, ie Frys.com and Tigerdirect.com as well as Newegg.
