    Work on build 7100

Thanks! I managed to work with Win7 build 7100.
    1)
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd\start = 4
    2) Restart
    3) Change the Permissions for the "cfg" folder to "Full Control"
    4) Delete all the "stpd" folder from the Registry
    5) Delete the stpd.sys from the system32/drivers folder
    6) Restart
    7) Install STPD 1.58
    8) Restart
    9) Try to install again the STPD and now the "Install" button isn't showed!!!
    10) Install Daemon Tools normally.

I got to part 6 - after that i cant login to my windows 7 box anymore. It gives me a login screen but after i give my password it "hangs" as in the arrow is now the round thinking thing. And it keeps it that way without getting me anywhere.

I was able to go back to last known good config for windows, and can now login again.

                Installed Windows 7 x64 Build 7100 today.

I have an issue with DT that is not the same as above.

DT installs fine (see steps at bottom of the post). After it is all installed fine, I try to mount any CD or DVD. They mount fine, Once installing the application or game on the Image Windows begins to hang for a few minutes then gets a small burst of life before hanging again. This continues until the install is finished then all is fine again.

2 Programs I tried to installed are Need For Speed Most Wanted. and Microsoft Office 2007 Pro Plus.

Here are the steps of the install.

Download latest DT package from this website.
                Run Installer.
Press the "Run Program" Button on the compatibility warning.
                Installer launches.
A few Steps In the SPTD install box appears and begins to install the SPTD driver.
Reboot request appears, I click "Restart Now"
                Windows Restarts, Installer restarts.
I press the "Run Program" button on the compatibility warning.
                Installer runs with no problems.
Compatibility warning appears again when the DT tray application launches. (i press "run program").
                Installer completes.
Even though it doesn't ask, I reboot anyway just for safety sake.
                Windows Restarts
Daemon tools triggers the Compatibility warning yet again.
I proceed to mount an image in the drive it created for me.
                Image Mounts and auto runs.
Upon file copy starting the OS begins to hang badly until the installer completes.

Total time to install NFS Most Wanted was 1 hour 22 minutes.
Total time to install Office 2007 was 48 Minutes.

Not sure what to make of it, but I decided to DT for now while i try troubleshoot it.

NOTE: the more CD/DVD drives you enable in DT the worse the hanging gets.
NOTE: This is a first application install, The OS had not had anything installed except Chipset and Video drivers from nVidia.

Not sure what I am doing wrong if I am doing anything wrong. But Installing DT for me makes the OS practically unusable as the hanging begins with just when the installer is active but soon after it starts to hang just by loading DT.

Anyone got any Ideas I might try?

I found that installing daemontools lite (latest) the process was fine until it came up with the "installing stpd 1.58", after this is said that I must reboot, so I did and the bloody thing just keeps repeating itself over and over again :/ I made the switch to MagicDisc(no problems at all) while I wait for daemontools to get its sh*t sorted.

I've also been having a nightmare getting this to install on my Windows7-7100.

I uninstalled and deleted the files from the reg as per instructions and reinstalled the latest sptd files from windows and then reinstalled daemon tools...

Looks like it installs ok but I can't get it to display. When it first runs it comes up with a timer and message about indexing with explorer or something but then I get nothing else.

I can see the application is running in processes in task manager but otherwise nothing .

Frustrating and I am at a bit of a loss what to do. I don't even mind paying for the pro version if I thought it would work but as it stands I don't know where I'm going wrong.

Looking into it in a bit more details my pc seems to gain an additional BD-ROM drive as part of the process but I'm unable to do anything with this.

Just installed DT Pro Advanced on Seven 7100 RC. And the only problem is that I can't install an IDE drive (the button is greyed out). Any idea?

if you actually read the other posts/threads, you would know that ide was disabled due to a microsoft bug which caused a bsod.. so currently ide + windows 7 = no go..
