  • Please Insert CD-Rom Error

First of all, let me say that I realize this thread is in existence somewhere else. I have read one version but did not find any applicable information in it.

    So here is the situation:

    I'm running:
    Toshiba Satellite
    Windows Vista (32bit)
One built in CD-Rom drive (D

    I'm using:
    Daemon Tools Pro Advanced

    I'm trying to:
Play Empires Dawn of the Modern World (.NRG)
(Already installed using Daemon Tools Mount to E
(Two CD kit. CD-one is for playing and initializing install)

    The problem is:
When I mount the Rom (IDE mount to virtual drive E it DOES auto-start and opens the main menu for the game BUT when I click "play" and it tries to initialize, I get an error saying "Please insert correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application".

    Some of my thoughts:
Obviously I have the correct CD-ROM (I have tried with CD2 and it tells me that CD1 is the correct CD) so I'm thinking that maybe my system is trying to read a different drive. I don't know what it would read a different drive than the one that initialized... but maybe that is what's going on.

If anyone has encountered this issue and has an idea of how it might be resolved... I would love to hear it. =)

Game is using SafeDisc 3.20 if i remember correct.

And a Nero image is not sufficient, therefore create one with DT Pro and SafeDisc profile.

I'm sorry but I don't follow you... I'm pretty green in this department.

      What is SafeDisk profile?

      and

Does it matter that I do not have the original game on hand. Can I make the new image you're suggesting by using the .NRG image that I have?

I made a new image from the .nrg image using a Safedic profile.

        Same error.

You are not creating an image of an image, you have to recreate the image from your original disk.

            Indeed it does.
Get your original back and try with that.
