What's the difference between free and paid license?

Hello i just want to know what's the difference between free and paid license burning software. I know there are lots of free burning software but many prefer the paid ones.

- free versions may have ads
- free versions may have limited functionality ( if there is a free / paid version of the same program )

There are many good free programs available, also some not so good, but the same applies to paid licenses.
It depends which features you need and what you exactly want to do.
