  • Windows 10 | SCSI drives | KBs causing the failure

    Hi SUPPORT1

To follow up from a previous thread I created I had the SCSI drive failure again and I found the following after a Windows 10 update

After the restart, the drive failure occurred, I checked and the following updates were installed:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
    OS Version: 10.0.17763 N/A Build 17763

KB4493510 - not possible to uninstall
KB4499728 - not possible to uninstall
    KB4486553
    KB4495667
    KB4499405
    KB4497932
    KB4462930
    KB4495590

    I actioned the following:

    - Un-installed Daemon Tools Lite (DTLite1040-0191_paid)
    - Cleared the registry of all presence of Daemon Tools Lite
    - Un-installed all the above KBs (with the exception of the two that are not possible to un-install)
    - Restarted the PC
    - Disabled automatic updates
    - Restarted the PC
    - Checked the currently installed updates

Below were the ones I had left after a restart

KB4493510 - not possible to uninstall
KB4499728 - not possible to uninstall
    KB4486553
    KB4495667

    - Installed Daemon Tools Lite (DTLite1040-0191_paid) and the STPD driver
    - Restarted the PC
    - Added a SCSI drive, worked first time
    - Restarted the PC
    - Checked Daemon Tools Lite and the drive was still present

I lastly then installed all the Windows updates available MANUALLY and after two restarts of the PC the SCSI drive was still present.

So in conclusion, the following updates cause the failure with the SSCI drives (this is also true for the lastest version - DTLite10100-0813_paid):

    KB4486553
    KB4495667
    KB4499405
    KB4497932
    KB4462930
    KB4495590

    Thank you

    Update
    ******
KB4497934 Breaks SCSI drive emulation, I tested this on my AMD and Intel machine and once uninstalled, emulation works again

Uninstall this KB if you've also lost emulation

      Hello,

Are we still talking about Windows 10, 1809? As latest updates fro 1803, 1809 and 1903 completely block the SPTD using. For now we found a solution to use IDE drives which is also part of Advanced emulation and the description you ma find one of forum topic - https://forum.daemon-tools.cc/showth...255#post162255
