  • 32/64 bit indistinct control dll functionality under AMD64

Well, I haven't seen the structure changes for the latest version, and I don't know if the API will still be released under similar terms or if it has changed, so what I'm saying may not be significative, but I would like to suggest that for the AMD64 bit architecture, both versions of the control library (32/64) are supplied and operative so it's not mandatory to access it from native 64 bit processes (f.e. daemon32.dll and daemon64.dll).

I started to talk about something else but I finally figured out that you'd like the 3rd Party Addons developers to not have to release 64-bit versions of their programs to be fully compatible with DAEMON Tools.

It takes the burden of 64-bit compatibility from the addon developers and places it on the DAEMON's Home team, heh I like that idea.

64 bit version of DAEMON Tools will have 64 bit drivers only - the rest will be 32 bit (identical to usual DT) and will work in 32 bit user process, so there will be no need for 3rd party addons to move to 64 bits.

I don't know if I got it wrong, but I understand there will be NO 64 verison of daemon tools? Becouse if it won't, it's a shame, cuz ther is no better virtual cd/dvd drive program then daemon tools. So please tell me their busy with the 64 bit version...

I have an oter OS running just for mounting game images!

            to sum it up:

...64 bit version is for 64bit, 32bit version is for 32bit ONLY
...yes, we already working on it.
...we've even special beta-testers for it.
...no, we don't accept 64bit-betatesters anymore

Yes, you got it wrong. DT4 will run under 64-bit, but the program itself is not being recompiled to run as a 64-bit application. It will simply be a 32-bit application working with the 64-bit driver. Understand now?

The next version of DT will support 64bits windows.
