What kind of cd-copy programs do you ahve installedon your laptop? Do you (ever) have CloneCD installed? Uninstall it.
The Message which you get on the other pc, when you don't use SD4Hide, is the right message you always get when you didn't use SD4Hide or another antiblacklisting program.

CloneCD is blacklisted very hard. I had a friend who had uninstalled CloneCD and there were only some registry keys left by the uninstallation and FIFA 06 didn't start. I found these leftovers, deleted them and then it works.

speed.exe has encountered a problem and it's your guess

Hello! This is me regging up and bumping in on an ancient thread as I have at least one solution to this problem nobody has suggested yet.. in the whole world so far as I can tell.. I have been Googling and forum diving for weeks to find an answer to this crash and finally figured it out via trial and error.

The "speed.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" message was IN MY CASE a "Power Mizer" power-saving feature related to my LCD display panel (on a GeForce 7900 GTX 512, in an XPS M1710).

The screen refresh rate was forcibly reduced to 50Hz when I selected the eco-friendly mode. This causes NFSU1/U2/MW to crash before the load screens can start (VERY easy to reproduce and repair the crash now). It also causes you to pull out hair and scream (if you forget what you did).

Apparently energy-saving features override the card's ability to change refresh rates on the fly so the card stays in 50Hz FULL STOP PERIOD. Unfortunately replacing graphics drivers maintained my problematic settings, and resetting drivers to default didn't affect the power saving mode. HMMMMM.

I was going crazy, I even tried some "less savory" methods on my legit copies to get them to work again.. no useful help from EA, no luck on the dark side either.. Tried every utility out there.. WEEKS I went without NFSMW.. Just got down and started checking every box in the world and found it, finally. So yeah this is my celebratory post I guess. Please enjoy.

Hope someone gets their game running again!

Need for speed underground and most wanted

For some reason i can't install both need for speed underground and need for speed most wanted on my computer... when one of them is installed and i go to install the other one it says play and uninstall and if you click on either it is for the already installed game...
if anyone can help that would be really appreciated

I can confirm that bug, as weird as it sounds. Most Wanted appears to think it's already installed if Underground is installed on the system. Unfortunately I don't know how to solve this, I just uninstalled Underground when I had that problem.

Please contact EA's official support for this, as it certainly isn't a problem with Daemon Tools.

Well, we are not the game support (EA in this case).

Also you haven't said if you are using an image or original. Check the game with original disk and also check if you had installed latest patch of the game.
