I can burn audio cd's no problem but when i go to burn an iso image using several different cd burning applications(clonecd, fantomcd, nero) the same thing happens everytime: the burning begins only to stop shortly (10%-30% complete) into the burning process and my cd-rw operation led indicator goes out and the cd-rw begins to operate at a high speed( i can tell by the louder "whirring" noise it produces). What's happening, and might it have something to do with the fact that my cd-rw doesn't support buffer underwrite protection? Please Help. My cd-rw is a Matshita cd-rw cw-7585 and it works beautifully on every other job except burning image files..

It could have to do with missing buffer underrun protection - do a test with the lowest write speed available - defrag your hdd - update your ASPI drivers - do nothing else while burning - if it works you can try higher write speeds again.Everybody be cool! You, be cool!
