With the Windows NT (4, 2000 or XP) and x64 environments, due to the system restrictions, you must use an administrator account when installing your software: some TAGES components are drivers. After installation, even the most restricted user account can run a software protected with TAGES.

Darkstar One US/UK version

US/UK Darkstar doesnt just only use TAGES it uses a additional
custom protection. This custom protection causes weird
behaviour ingame when a non legit version/image/emulation
is detected...
symptoms are:
1. Gfx color corruption over time including acid trip colors
and image blurring (no joke really )
2. missile buying causes division by zero crash
3. All upgrades cost 0 credit thus making it quite
uninteresting to hunt for credits at all
4. Hyperjump Nav map jitters
5. Problems to continue the storyline at certain spots.
Every question resorting to these symptoms in the support forums
of the game will result in a mod asking you for the number on the
inner ring of your DVD ....Guys vote for the threads you read to give
the rating system a place to live ^^
