  • Daemon Tool 4.10 vs Starforce ProActive

hi, everyone, im currently trying to play a game which is protected by sf-proactive, problly the latest version, and it detects every single pieces of my comp's software and hardware, and got a banlist of all previous versions of Daemon Tools , thus I cant even find half a way to get through and enter the game by mounting the play-disk. Just like to know wether this version of DT (4.10) has any new feature (like before) to deal with it.
    Thanks a lot~.

btw, this game is in Chinese, so i cant provide too much infomation bout it in here. Its English name seems to be
"The Legend of Swordsman & Fairy 4"

You have or may have two or three options, safely avoid any game which uses starforce in the future and boycott the company who uses the protection as a paying customer since starforce and anything it touches instantly turns to crap, as well as plagued with problems/system failure.

Or you can install your game and unplug any IDE optical disc drives (CD/DVD-Rom) before you run the game, then try running it. Don't know if that still works.

Then the third and final option, make an image and you can pay for a License of Daemon Tools Pro (The Best, most expensive Version) with a Virtual IDE and mount the game via the VIDE drives. Then the typical SCSI blacklists will become obsolete.

Starforce does not mind anymore if you use SCSI and/or IDE drives, ie no more SCSI blacklist.

And by the way, vIDE was never intented to defect SF which access directly to hardware.

I thought that was the Main Purpose of D-Tools pro with VIDE was to be able to play backup images of Starforce protected games according to what I've heard?

I didn't know if anything changed since then.

Not explicitly for Starforce, no. It will work for older versions of SecuROM, some versions of Safedisc or for ProtectCD/DVD. They said in another post that the Starforce implementation was buggy and would likely crash on a number of systems it was used on.

it would work even for newer titles of Securom

There are currently still flaws here and there that will be fixed
            with next update.

What concerns SF 3.x titles, we maybe(!) include in another
update the possibility to "on your own risk"-option to overcome even
            those titles.

But main purpose of vIDE is to emulate "better" current titles
            and make antiblacklister obsolete

and - and that is most important - we continuesly improve
DAEMON Tools Pro and update really very frequently.

Since release in June (2 month ago) we already delivered
4(!) updates/upgrades and not only fixed bugs but continously
also maintained the code and included new features...

We consider the vIDE clearly as our priority-feature and try
our best to make it compatible with almost all games-titles
and systems. And we offered also latest YASU exclusively
(1.4.7080), release soon a new version of RealROM and
CureROM, ASR and other applications - and of course we
are currently working on new features for DT Pro

I am playing a game which also uses SF proactiviate. What's more the game uses SF 5. When I mount an image made by Alcohol 120%(latest version), it always shows that the cdkey is not right with the disk.
What's wrong? How can I solve it.

I am playing the same game.
The short name of it is PAL4.
                in Chinese "仙剑奇侠传4"
The Chinese pronounciation is "Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan 4"
I hope that the next Version can solve this problem to work with StarForce 5.

if I use iSCSI with this game, it will be detected by StarForce 5

if I use iIDE with this game, the game will for some reason *cannot* see the cd drive at all

if DT needs the cd, I can actually send it over to you guys to look at it (just make sure send it back to me when done ) I have yet to beat the game.

I clearly remember that vIDE was conceived to beat SF3.x without unplugging. At the time, beta testers had got the beta version of DT with vIDE.

I remember when DT3.x was a great free tool developed with passion and enthusiasm.
But later... commercial versions, business, money... slow change of attitude... and vIDE for SF3.x became unstable, unreliable, not worth more testing and not intended for SF anymore.
Well, what a sad destiny for the DT ideals...

Would you rather people ran into problems with their systems crashing on them because DTools had released a buggy driver?

So what's worse in free Daemon Tools 4 lite concerning this matter ?

Most likely we'll see the "on your own risk"-option. But digging even deeper than Starforce unfortunately is problematic.
I'm not employed by Disc Soft and my views do not necessarily reflect the ones of the company.

well I've realized it's problematic... I just would like to see some sort of StarforceNightmare integrated in Daemon Tools.
