  • Newest SecuROM update

You probably noticed there's a new update for SecuROM, making the registry trick (to avoid blacklisting) useless.
A good example is GTA San Andreas after applying the v1.01 patch.

Is there any way around this? And more important: Does this also blacklist the new DT v4?
There's always a chance that one of the betatesters is a SecuROM employee
That could result in DT v4 being blacklisted by SecuROM even before it's released

    ...

thanks for being paranoid. And just so you don't get your hopes up-- it's very unlikely you'll hear anything about v4 (outside of the Announcements forum), let alone a very specific detail such as this.

And yes - the latest patch does seem to remove the registry permissions trick. Its new and I haven't heard of anyone getting around it in the last few days.

Who would be so stupid to install GTA-SA v1.01 patch anyway? It just removes the hot coffee patch ability. Don't support censorship. :P

You're absolutely right about that, BUT the patch also shows us that SecuROM will not give up. What if it was a multiplayer game where the patch was needed to play online?
