  • Call of Duty 2

My DVD drive has had better days and upon purchasing CoD2, I discovered it didn't want to read the disk.
So, after using a friend's computer to burn an ISO and mounting it in Daemon Tools, I have the game installed. I can play multiplayer, as that doesn't need the disk, but the single player is causing problems. According to the Activision Support site, I need the DVD in the drive the first time I play, but I can use a virtual drive after that.

    I see some options:
    - Find a way for it to think the virtual drive is a real drive (possible?)
    - Find however it stores the fact that it has run once, and noted there was a DVD in the drive.
    - Fix my DVD drive (tried many things and sent many support mails)

I'm guessing number 2 is my best option, but is there anyone here that has CoD2 and can check for new files or registry entries?

This problem is made worse by the fact that my internet is running really slow, so I can't play multiplayer!
Hope someone can help.. with anything
    -Steve

you must perform the necessary setup, so I suggest you to
use alcohol 120% and use the proper settings, f.e. SafeDisc
(don't know exactly if that fits here)

there's no need to use the dvd itself - even not for the first
time, except for the image creation - otherwise where's the
point to use vdrive-technology at all?

Call of Duty 2 is using the new Safedisc 4.60.000.
Safedisc 4.60.000 have blacklisted Daemon Tools, so you need to use SafeDisc 4 Hider.
You also have to do an .mds of the game since the .iso is useless.

      Now see if that works.

Thank you very much, this method works. But I made my image with Blindread (B5T. B00. & B5I. files), and it still works fine.
ANYTHING that comes from Japan is GREAT. No exceptions.

If you register you will get Daemon Tools Pro when it gets released, and the Pro version can both create images and mount them.

You have posted in an old thread, over 1 year ago.

Multiplayer is unprotected and single player is protected, that is the reason you can play multiplayer and not on singleplayer.

You create an image with DAEMON Tools Pro/Alcohol 52/120%.
