  • Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory - x64

    Greetings.

After i tried to install SC : CT in windows x64 i recieved a message sating that the game its not compatible wint this version of windows.

I searched for a workarround, and it looks like the problem its the game copy protection.

So my question is: Is it possible to use daemon tools to bypass the copy protection in the game so it can run on windows x64?

If so, a step by step guide would be great.
    Thanks.

Many of the games were NOT compatible/installation didn't
works on x64 OS OR some of them installable BUT didn't works
(my opinion that StarForce protected games highly incompa-
tible on x64 OS. More infos at this link:

Will see at SCCT's line was RED and the status NOT WORKING.
Some others same this status like Silent Hunter III, etc.

      No Workaround

The copy protection does factor into it, but the main executable for SCCT won't launch anyway because it detects x64 to spite the compatibility features available.

Unfortunately, the only workaround would involve contacting Ubisoft Montrael and getting them to update the game to support the OS, then they'd have to contact StarForce and get them to recode the protection drivers to work with the new patched game, sounds like money to a company.

Who knows, perhaps down the track when people are playing Splinter Cell 4 or something, they'll re-released this game as a Essentail Collection Cheap buy game without this annoying protection.

I wish I could give you good news, but you're only hope is a crack and there really aren't any crackers out there game enough to touch such a ferocious protection method such as Starforce which sometimes requires full reverse engineering of the entire game's core files, not just the main exe.

Anyway, I'd forget about it or install x86 Windows.
Maybe even start a petition about x64 gamers who want a compatible release.

      Let em know again.

I know WinXP 64bit better like the 32bit version, but the prob-
lems was MUCH as useable the 64bit OS. Microsoft out 2 years
ago, but nearly all the drivers used was incompatibility or can-
not convert 32bit to 64bit perfectly for using. 1st you need
to search/download all your drivers from 64bit version etc.
Many software (apps/games etc.) was didn't works or has
problems at running. If goes to MS Support you didn't get a
        right answer for the problems.
What else?? DO NOT USE 64bit OS, use 32bit (this is my and
my friends opinion). Now about SCCT/64bit/32bit problem:
maybe try that you are Install SCCT on a 32bit OS and copy/
run on your 64bit OS. Update v1.04 or v1.05 latest, MAYBE
you are lucky... But (I guess) will doesn't work.

Excuse me, But I happen to be more than satisfied by the unsamountable performance & stability that x64 provides, Microsoft have worked very hard and as long as you have brand name hardware, you should not encounter any unfixable hardware problems (except Wireless, Scanners & Parallel Printers).

64bit is the next generation and not everyone is ready for it, however, for those few technologically up to date and hardware enthusiasts, this is a god send, particularlly for those whose do not like the 4GB cap that the 32bit limitation instills.

I'm sure you had your difficulties, but maybe you should let people make up their own damn minds. Look, About 98% of all Winxp/2000 games work on x64, it's only the copy protections of 16bit legacy limitations that hold you back. Don't be so hasty, have a go at Starforce for using such a ridiculous protection measure than x64's incapatibility with it, it's the companies problem to conform to an OS, not the otherway round. Have a think about it.

x64 ain't for everyone but for those who know how to use it, are thoroughly enjoying it, this includes myself.

Have a good one young Gamer

Becouse the game Protections will more agressive also the StarForce Protection will use MORE and MORE times together
with the x64 Driver problems... I guess the 64bit OS what the
work of future? Simple MUCH incompatibility, I tested day
after day and down the working ones. IF the problems from
the Software Companies or/and Protections it is down on the
USER. e.g. Order Black and White 2.. install the game works
fine, BUT get many BUGS included the game. When you down-
loaded the 1st (BIG) Update YOU CANNOT INSTALL that on
your 64bit OS... This is only 1 game, but this game is not the
cheapest one and cannot use/play. Also Splinter Cell CT and
other ones... The 64bit was the Future.

64bit is Coming whether you like it or not!

The 64bit world is coming faster than you realise, Starforce & Securom have already accounted for x64 releases and the list of incompatibility declines daily. B&W2 worked perfectly fine, even with installing the patch. Guess we had different problems there. Also, x64 is for the absolute latest hardware only, after all, doesn't the x64 athlons start at like 2700+?

Look, I understand your frustration but major servers in major IT companies including Microsoft, IBM & Sun Microsystems are already making x64 compliant systems. The advantages of 64bit are too much to ignore.

Yes, backward compatibility is an issue, but it will only be for a short time. It will only badly affect Classic Gamers who want to be able to visit the x86 games, hopefully they'll consider this in Vista testing.

              Anyway, I'm sure you understand.

Umm... Hate to break it to you Azreal, but IBM and Sun have been running 64-bit operating systems for many years already. The DEC-Alpha processors have been 64-bit from the start, but they were largely used in servers and mainframes. Just because the consumer market is just now catching up doesn't mean its new territory for the manufacturers.

And I've contacted Ubisoft myself to tell them that I'm boycotting their games for making them too stringent. I can understand copy protection, but when you start making it so users have to have one machine for your games and another to do everything else, that's just ridiculous. My current rig won't work with Starforce because all I HAVE are CD burners that don't appear on their precious "approved list". And I'm not about to go back to 32-bit Windows because Ubisoft doesn't want to support 64-bit. I'll just spend my money elsewhere.

Its no wonder things like DT4 are so popular.

Edit by Underheaven: last sentence of post removed. Don't mention cracks/warez

                  Total Agreement

                  Ah yeah, forgot about those.

You are most certainly right, we must keep a positive epistomology towards 64bit computing and continue to encourage support for it, the advantages are just too good and for such a good price.

Hooray for 64bit! May you spite our enemies of Starforce & Safedisc.

                  Not really, just plan enthusiasm.
Keep up the boycotting but keep it tasteful.
