I have a game called Chessmaster 9000. Clony shows it is protected by phenoprotect2. I don't have any problem in making a copy but I just found the log file in CCD shows it amplified some weak sectors. It makes me wonder what is the difference between these two protections.
There are probably some variations. For example, the distribution of the bad sectors may form a signature which is checked against your serial. Look at starforce and securom. I'm not really aware of any real differences between the core of the protections.
