the makers of x2 seem have released the game exe without the copy protection. (exe available here.)
it seems they finally gave in ( i hope ) to gamer pressure. can anyone test the file out, i don't have x2 so i cant. it says you have to register to get it, but i was able to download it (weird)

edit: also fixes 64bit incompatibility

The unprotected exe of X2 was released a long time ago... but you shouldn't be able to grab it if you're not registered...
Maybe they have security problems?

By the way the article is kinda funny... and realistic...

Yep i was able to download without registering also...

The unprotected exe file was released to enable windows 64 bit users to play the game due to the fact that it had an old version of starforce on it that was incompatible with this operating system

I have downloaded the exe and the game works just fine with it, different matter getting the game installed though. LOL
